The Shibori Workshop : Introduction to Itajime Techniques 1/30/25
Discover the magic of shibori pattern making using clamp resist techniques as you create your own unique set of cotton napkins. You will learn how to work with an organic indigo vat to achieve a strong, stable beautiful blue hue. To begin, we will use small squares of cotton swatches to practice a number pattern making methods using various folds and materials. After getting comfortable with the shibori techniques we will prepare our napkins and carefully dip them in the indigo vats.
No prior experience with indigo dyeing is necessary. Skills include: patterned resist dyeing techniques and learning to work with an indigo vat.
Each student will go home with their unique set of cotton napkins, dip dye tests, cotton swatches, and notebook. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
