The Drawing Workshop: Sketching Seattle Architecture 5/25/25

The Drawing Workshop: Sketching Seattle Architecture 5/25/25

$100.00

Draw and paint our local vernacular architecture, from classic Craftsman-style porches to lush, terraced gardens that define the Seattle landscape. Eleanor will share strategies for drawing buildings in perspective, as well as tips for simplifying overwhelming details to more clearly show the character of our subjects. After creating a few drawings of local scenes around Greenwood Ave, we’ll use watercolor to add life to our sketches.

To make the most of this workshop, students should already be familiar with sketching on location.

f weather permits, we will go outside into the streets of Phinney Ridge and draw on location. If not, we will draw from reference imagery inside the Piano Nobile space.

Guest Teacher: Eleanor Doughty is a Seattle-based freelance illustrator. Imbuing realistic subjects with character & significance.

Eleanor would like students to bring the materials they already own & enjoy using. Most importantly - a sketchbook or paper, which is suitable for drawing & a light wash of wet media, as well as a waterproof drawing tool they prefer to use in their own practice. Detailed list will be given closer to the workshop date.
